Fished the bream comp last week in Gippsland and did pretty well on the bream again! Was tough going in the Nicholson on Friday with only 2 good fish landed at 38cm and 39cm.

The Saturday saw a change of destination and it paid off well boating 15 fish in 5 hours with the smallest fish going 37cm and biggest going 42cm (1.3kg) Glen W

The AGM last night was a great turn out. Thank you to all that came along and for proxy forms for ones that could not come. Thank you to the outgoing committee for all the work they have done over the year. Thank you for all the stood again and thank you to Geoff Anderson ombudsman and Amber Lyons fish recorder for putting their hands up to help out on committee this year. Congratulations to Mark Johnson becoming a Life Member. The work and commitment he has given to the club over his years is invaluable and appreciated and I think he is a very worthy addition.

Fished the Nicholson river Sunday Monday just gone. One of the best sessions Ive had on the river with non stop action both days! Most fish ranging 33 - 40cm with the best fish landed going 41cm 1.1kg. Dropped 2 much bigger fish boat side! All bigger fish coming on spider crabs and the rest on live shrimp!

Rye comp on the weekend 4th and 5th report.

Saturday my wife and I fished at Rye. Launched at 1030 and back in at 1230. Wife does not like early starts and had to be out at 1pm so not much time. Wind was higher than predicted at approx 18 knots. Drift was 3+km so very fast. Got two on first drift. Then nothing on next 5 drifts. Not big ones either. No one else checked in on that day. Sunday Chris Gray and Stuart Gray fished Rye also as his report the got Squid, cuttlefish, whiting and rubbish fish. Weather was better that day until it blew up in afternoon. No one else checked in. Stuart won the event with his whiting only one caught. Chris second place. Wish I could have got out Sunday also but was at Eildon running simulator. But at least got on water even if it was a crap day for fishing.

Fished Port Phillip yesterday with dad Stuart.

Was great to finally be back fishing in Victoria for the first time this year.

Launched from rye around 8:30am and headed straight out to the squid grounds.

We started our drift in 8m drifted out to 15m.

We got 7 squid and a cuttle fish on the first drift.

Then struggled on the next couple of drifts.

Finished with 10 squid and 3 cuttlefish.

Before going to try for whiting.

Tried around mud island and dad managed 1 whiting on the first drop.

Tried a few more spots without any luck before travelling over to queenscliff. No luck here either.

Wind picked up in the arvo to 18knots and punched our way back across and headed in.

    Thanks Chris K49
