Had the Northbank Fishing Comp this Saturday at Queenscliff. Awesome day with my wife and two daughters with 28 other boats in it. I got 2nd prize for biggest snapper. Which was a surprise as only 38.5 long. Not many went for snapper and if they did they went in the grand champion one snapper, one whiting and one squid heaviest weight wins.

We got one snapper(pinkie) 10 whiting and only one squid. Biggest of all only combined 78 kilo total and knew it would not win. So entered separate.

    Grand champion was over 140kgs

I went to Mornington for snapper and got it as packing up so we could make weigh in.

Great day and got some fish so even better.

Launched from Hastings, lines in at 5:30 am , very quiet until change of tide at 8:00 . Started at Silverleaves then moved to Observation Point , wind picked up about 7:00 am and made it pretty hard , moved back up to Lysaghts but the wind only got worse , pulled the pin 10:30 . Finished with four snaps for the morning.

Fished the bream comp last week in Gippsland and did pretty well on the bream again! Was tough going in the Nicholson on Friday with only 2 good fish landed at 38cm and 39cm.

The Saturday saw a change of destination and it paid off well boating 15 fish in 5 hours with the smallest fish going 37cm and biggest going 42cm (1.3kg) Glen W
